An Artist is Born

Today while we were writing in out Journals I had a couple of my first graders at a table working together. Now although they were all first graders, they're on completely different level and because so I expected different things out of all of them. While they were drawing their pictures, one of the boys "Tom" leaned over to another little boy "Mike" and said...

"Ya know 'Mike' I am six years old and I have A LOT of experience in drawing. You have to think ahead about what you're drawing and try to make it look real. I can teach you sometime, if you want a drawing lesson."

The first thought I had to myself was...'Ya know "Tom" I am twenty-seven years old and I still don't know how to draw and make it look real. Can you teach me? On second thought, I think I'll just stick to my good old stick figures!'

Kids just say whatever is on their minds!
